Hogan Mark 16 months old (December 30th-January 30th)
The absolute, most precious, melt my heart thing that Hogan did this month was start saying "I love you." "I wuv vu." It is beyond magical when he says it.
Hogan has grown quite fond of Santa and says "Ho-Ho-Ho" when he sees Santa. He will occasionally say "Santa," but usually just "Ho Ho Ho." His favorite book is Old MacDonald's Farm pop book and he has decided that the farmer looks like Santa, so he points to the farmer and says Ho Ho Ho. Silly boy. Santa came to his school to visit and we had to give permission for Hogan to see him and get his picture taken. I was a little torn. One because if the picture was cute, I 'd be a little bummed to purchase it without Eastman and Andi being in the picture. Two because if he was terrified, he might not want to go see Santa for a picture when I need to get a picture of all three kiddos. Well, I gave permission and it is the absolute best picture! Hogan was smiling. Santa looks great! But when we went to go see Santa with all three kiddos, Hogan lost it. He wanted nothing to do with Santa. (Probably because mom and dad were there (I hid int he hallway, thinking that he would do better if he did not see me)). Oh well. Make for a cute picture anyway.
We have a snowman advent calendar that is a giant stuffed snowman that sits on our fireplace. Hogan will walk over to it and say "Owl. Hooo Hooo." Makes us giggle every time. I finally corrected him and told him it was a snowman and now he says the word snowman. He like to read a lip-the-flap Christmas book and will lift the flap with the snowman behind it and say snowman. There is also a flap with Santa behind it. Hogan will say Santa and Ho Ho Ho even before lifting the flap. He remembers that is where Santa is hiding. Hogan will also say "hooo hooo" when he see a penguin. If you think about it. Both penguins and snowmen look like owls with their round head and orange beak (or carrot nose).
Hogan loves loves loves book. He still calls them "Bible" and I think that is okay. He hugs or kisses the animals in the books that we read and makes their animal sound. He also loves to give himself kisses in the books that have mirrors.
Hogan is always singing. His favorite songs are Old MacDonald ("E-I-E-I-O"), Twinkle Twinkle, The B-I-B-L-E ("B-I-B-I-B")
Hogan is a playful little baby and loves to give high fives. he will say "high five" and smile and want to give high fives over an d over again.
He points and says "eye" "nose" "mouth" "ear" (more like "e--are") and "hair" (more like "hey-are") He has little bit of a southern draw when saying ear and hair.
When he points to my hair and pets my hair, he sometimes smiles, laughs, and then pulls my hair. He think he is being playful, but it hurts. I whimper and say ouch. He now pulls my hair smiling and then almost instantly whimpers and makes a sad face.
Hogan absolutely loves school. He gets excited in the morning when it is time to get dressed. He will say "socks" and "shoes." He now says "jacket." He loves to put on his jacket. Probably because that means it is almost time to go. He will say "school" and "go" or "let's go" or "bye-bye." His teachers say that he loves school and is such a happy boy. They also told Dave that he knows which jacket is his and when grab it from the hooks when it is time for outside play. One day another child got his jacket and he was sure to tell everyone that was his jacket and that he wanted it back. There is a large fish tank at school and when I pick him up at the end of the day, he requests to see the "fish" on our way out.
