Rock City

Rock City is another one of our many adventures while in Chattanooga, TN. Rock City is on top of Lookout Mountain. It features massive, ancient rock formations, beautiful gardens, and breath-taking views.

Shawn and Lynley

Creepy Gnome. They had gnome statues/figurines scattered throughout the gardens.

I love this picture of our little family.

It was starting to rain when we arrived so they handed out ponchos. Thought we should wear them for a little while to ward off the rain.

Nana and Papa
We could see 7 states from this lookout! Wow!

Lover's Leap

Tennessee Aquarium

While in Chattanooga we visited the Tennessee Aquarium. It was huge! Very impressive! The best aquarium I've ever been to. There was an area full of butterflies-that would land on you and maybe even let you hold them. Andi loves butterflies, but wasn't quite sure of what to think of them up close. One landed on her head! She had no idea. So neat!
There were tons of fish, giant sea turtles, giant crabs, jellyfish, frogs, a sting ray petting tank, otters, and the list goes on...

See the butterfly on her bow?!

She loved pointing to all of the fish and kept saying "blu, blu, blu." That is Andi's impression of what a fish says.

Giant crab!

Looking at Anna Lee through the glass. This picture is taken before the smooshie faces and kissing the glass began. :)

Baseball Fun

While at the baseball games, we had to find other things to occupy our time and interest while we waited for Shawn to go in and pitch. The Mascots at the games were a little scary at first, but Andi soon warmed up to them and wanted to go up and see them anytime they came near. Andi especially loved Baby Looie the Lookout. He was her size. She went right up to him and held his hand. There was a little carousel that Andi liked riding at the Smokies Stadium (we watched the first two games there, in Kodak, TN before spending the rest of our trip in Chattanooga). She wanted to get up a lot and walk around the ballpark. So we found a few interesting things to see and do. Mostly, stretch our legs or walk around the baseball stadium with Papa. Andi’s new favorite word is “walk.” Papa would ask her if she was ready to “walk” and quickly Andi would initiate by saying, “walk, walk!” The Lookouts had some delicious kettle corn popcorn that even Andi became a fan of. The games started out hot, but about 8:36 every night the sun would go down behind the stadium and things would cool off. We had fireworks one night that Andi could not take her eyes off of, but was a little scared of too. They were loud! And the best entertainment was the ZooperStars! Inflatable Mascots. Very funny. One was a clam, ‘Roger Clamens’ that was on the field and walked up to at devoured one of the baseball players! Everyone was laughing except for Andi…she looked at me and started to cry. What baseball game is not complete without a hotdog. One night was kid's night and every kid upon entry received a coupon for a free hotdog, so Andi got her first taste of a ballpark hotdog...and loved it!

Here are a few pictures of us passing the time at the ballgames waiting for Uncle Shawn to pitch.

Uncle Shawn & Chattanooga Lookouts

We recently returned from Chattanooga, Tennessee to visit my brother, Shawn. We had not seen him since he left for spring training in February! It was good to see Shawn and his wife, Lynley. When Shawn left, Andi was almost 11 months and not walking. Shawn could not believe that she was not only walking, but running. He was also impressed with her vocabulary. It was fun to see them interact together. Andi quickly learned how to say, “Uncle Shawn.” And she thought he was pretty funny. Shawn could really get her laughing. So sweet.

While in Chattanooga, we watched a lot of baseball! We watched a total of eight games! Almost half of those games went into extra innings! So we watched A LOT of baseball…and got to see Shawn pitch several innings—So proud of him! Here are a few pictures of him pitching. “Go, Shawn!”
