Since we had a full week off for Thanksgiving and were itching to get away, we decided to go for it. We were offered lodging and had the time and really needed to escape for the week. WE went to Winter Park and some good friends, the Adams, went with us. Nana did too and she was very thankful and said it was a much needed time away from the stress of home. She enjoyed being with the kids, snuggling Hogan, reading a good book, taking long baths, and having someone prepare dinners for her (thanks to Jordan!). The first morning there, we were greeted at our morning breakfast by a family of moose! How majestic!
It was pretty incredible that there was already enough snow to ski during the week of Thanksgiving. Some years, they have not received any snow yet in November and this year, they already had enough to have several runs and lifts open. Not much on the top of the mountain, so we decided that it was not worth sending the kids to ski school since there would not be a lot of additional runs that Dave and I would want to do without them anyway. It was so rewarding to ski with Andi and Eastman and watch how much they enjoyed it. They have both improved since the last time we went and will only get better and they gain more confidence. Eastman probably needs a couple more lessons just to get more confidence about his skiing ability. Hogan got to stay home with Nana. He was not feeling well most of the week so I was even more grateful that Nana wanted to come along with us.
We skied three days, went tubing one day, and stayed home on Thanksgiving day so we could eat good food and watch football. The kids did some backyard exploring and playing in the snow. Nana had decided to fly home on Wednesday afternoon so that she could be with my brothers Thursday.
