Andi, here are some important things about you at 4 months:
At your 4 month appointment:
Weight: 15 pounds 7 ½ ounces (90th percentile)
Height: 25 ¾ inches (90th percentile)
Head circumference: 16 ¾ inches (90th percentile)
*Your eyes are brown, you have a great complexion, good color, a natural tan, and your hair is still dark. You hair is starting to come in more now and looks a little lighter.
*You are beautiful! Gorgeous! Everywhere we go people come up to us and tell us how pretty you are.
*You went on your first plane ride this month. You did great. The way there, you slept the whole way. The way home, you played and talked for a little while and then fell asleep and stayed asleep until after the plane landed. The lady we sat next to paid you a huge compliment. She said that she has traveled a lot and sat by many babies and you were by far the best. She said that she has never been around such a happy baby who didn’t cry one bit. So proud of you!
*You have found your toes. You grab your feet and pull your big toe towards you and into your mouth to suck on. It is so funny! You used to prefer sucking on your thumb, but now I think you like your toe better.
*You like to watch television. I think you get that from your Daddy.
*You reach out and grab anything in front of you. And everything you get your hands on goes into your mouth. You suck or chew on everything.
*You are enjoying your exersaucer. You will sit in it for long periods of time and play, sit, and stand, and turn yourself around reaching for all the toys.
*Your favorite is still your bouncy seat. You like the toys that dangle and the lights and sounds it makes when you grab a toy.
*You are laughing, smiling and talking a lot! You are such a happy girl. You will smile at anyone who looks at you or talks to you, but I like to think that you save your best smiles for your Mommy and Daddy. You will laugh out loud and it is the cutest thing we have ever heard. We get so tickled that we too begin to laugh out loud.
*You love to move. You enjoy stretching out on your back so you can kick your legs and wave your arms. You also like to stand up. You will push up on your legs when Mommy or Daddy holds your hands. You are such a strong girl.
*You are wearing size clothes 3-6 months.
*You are easily in size 2 diapers.
*You still like to eat. Sometimes you get distracted by things in your line of sight or when you hear your Daddy’s voice. If you hear Daddy, you stop eating and look up smiling in his direction.
*You are still a pretty good sleeper. You like to dictate your bedtime and refuse to go to bed until you are good and ready and sure you won’t miss out on the fun. You like to be rocked to sleep. And you would prefer to be held and cuddled while you sleep, but are doing ok in your crib (although Mommy and Daddy’s bed is more comfy.) You do not appreciate being put in your crib unless you are tired. You still sleep only on your back. You seem to really like your crib. You continue to like to wake up about once during the night around 3-4 am. Sometimes just to be changed and held, but often times you also want to eat. We are trying to get you to make it all night long before we have to go back to work. You often wake us up in the morning by talking to us (instead of crying). When we get into your room you look up at us and smile, ready to be held. What a great way to start the day!
*You are really alert. We always knew you were a smart girl who loved to look around. Now you really always have your eyes open, looking at everything. You will move your head side-to-side to see it all and take everything in. You like to be held facing out or like to be sitting up so you can see what is going on.
*We think you know your name now. When someone says, “Andi,” you will turn your head in that direction. Maybe you just like it when people talk to you, but I think you know your name.
*You are a very good baby. You are easy going and go with the flow. You will go just about anywhere without putting up a fuss. Good thing because we take you everywhere.
*You are able to focus well and follow me or others around the room.
*When we read to you, you try to grab the book and turn the pages on your own.
*You like your pacifier. It helps put you to sleep. You have gotten to where you like to take it in and out of your mouth, often times turning it around backwards or upside down or you will just chew on it instead of suck on it.
*You are precious! Our sweet Angel. We love you more than words can say. Hard to believe that you are already 4 months old! Love you Andi.
