Baseball Fun

While at the baseball games, we had to find other things to occupy our time and interest while we waited for Shawn to go in and pitch. The Mascots at the games were a little scary at first, but Andi soon warmed up to them and wanted to go up and see them anytime they came near. Andi especially loved Baby Looie the Lookout. He was her size. She went right up to him and held his hand. There was a little carousel that Andi liked riding at the Smokies Stadium (we watched the first two games there, in Kodak, TN before spending the rest of our trip in Chattanooga). She wanted to get up a lot and walk around the ballpark. So we found a few interesting things to see and do. Mostly, stretch our legs or walk around the baseball stadium with Papa. Andi’s new favorite word is “walk.” Papa would ask her if she was ready to “walk” and quickly Andi would initiate by saying, “walk, walk!” The Lookouts had some delicious kettle corn popcorn that even Andi became a fan of. The games started out hot, but about 8:36 every night the sun would go down behind the stadium and things would cool off. We had fireworks one night that Andi could not take her eyes off of, but was a little scared of too. They were loud! And the best entertainment was the ZooperStars! Inflatable Mascots. Very funny. One was a clam, ‘Roger Clamens’ that was on the field and walked up to at devoured one of the baseball players! Everyone was laughing except for Andi…she looked at me and started to cry. What baseball game is not complete without a hotdog. One night was kid's night and every kid upon entry received a coupon for a free hotdog, so Andi got her first taste of a ballpark hotdog...and loved it!
